About Us

Sunny Beginnings is a 501(c)3 charitable organization that was founded in St. George, Utah by Jed and Ashley Ence. Utah has been struggling with a crumbling childcare sector and no one has been willing to take ownership of the problem We believe it is time we implement extraordinary measures -perhaps measures never taken before- to strengthen our foundation as a community by bridging the gap between funding and childcare in our area.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is the private subsidy program funded?

Our private subsidy program is primarily funded through donations from individuals, businesses, and community organizations.  This collective support enables us to provide financial aid to families in need.

How do private subsidies work?

Much like state childcare assistance, we work with licensed providers. Reasons include cost-effectiveness, quality control, equity and fairness, and job creation and stability for larger numbers of children. At this time, we provide assistance to families being served in Utah by Licensed Family aka In-Home Programs.

Will you subsidize children cared for by nannies or family members?

Subsidizing care provided by nannies or family members does not allow us to reach as many families as partnering with licensed programs who cater to multiple families simultaneously. This practice also helps to ensure certain standards of safety, risk management, curriculum, and caregiver qualifications. Subsidizing licensed programs also helps us to promote the growth of the childcare industry and positively impact employment rates and economic stability.

Can parents attending school qualify for a private subsidy?

In the future, we hope to be able to provide private subsidies to families who are enrolled in career advancing programs. We do not currently provide this type of subsidy.

What age groups does Sunny Beginnings cater to?

Sunny Beginnings offers many avenues of support to families with children of all ages, but only children ages 3 months to 5 years, and children with special needs are able to qualify for our subsidy program.

How can I support Sunny Beginnings?

Supporters can contribute to Sunny Beginnings through donations, volunteering, and participating in community events. Every form of support helps us continue providing quality childcare and making a positive impact in the community.

Are there any income requirements for families to qualify for your programs?

Yes, our subsidized childcare program is designed for families who meet certain income guidelines. These are set to ensure that we assist those in greatest need. Please contact us for detailed information on these guidelines.

What documentation do I need to apply for my child?

You will need to provide your child’s birth certificate, proof of income, proof of residency, and immunization records. Additional documents may be required based on individual circumstances.
